I don't have the time to track!
DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TRACK?
A common thing we hear as coaches is “I don’t have enough time to track”, “It’s not accurate” or it’s “too much effort”. Tracking can seem overwhelming at first, but we are here to break it down and make it time effective and accurate to help you achieve more consistent and sustainable results.
Also, have a look at that screen time and tell us how much time you’ve spent on TikTok, Instagram etc recently. A fraction of that time can be spent focusing on something to help you achieve your goals instead of something you’ll forget about in 10 seconds.
DO I NEED TO TRACK MY FOOD?
For professional athletes and bodybuilders prepping for shows, tracking is part of their job and is crucial for their competitions. Whereas for the average gymgoer, tracking gives you a clearer idea on what portion sizes you should generally be eating to achieve your goals, see what foods are dominant in macronutrients, gain awareness of mindless eating, observe effects that eating has on your body and teaches you a basic structure for eating.
Once it becomes 2nd nature, like anything it saves so much time and effort so when it comes to cooking or eating on the go you know exactly what you’re eating and how much, which is very handy if you have certain nutritional goals.
Tracking isn’t always an absolute must, there will be times in your life where you don’t need to track but there will also be times where you do…
EXAMPLE - FAT LOSS
This is most common goal within the fitness community, but with it being the most common also makes it one of the easiest to overcome and achieve. Tracking in a fat loss phase will allow you to keep track of your weight to avoid plateau. We use this as a check in to evaluate why progress may have slowed down or stopped.
Now with all this being said, accurate tracking is an important tool whether you’re on a weight loss or weight gain journey. You don’t have to devote your entire day to it but taking 5-10 minutes out of your TikTok scroll will go a hell of a long way in helping you achieve the goals you’ve set out.
